The first official day of summer is quickly approaching! If you’re visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, or any other theme parks located in Florida this summer, prepare to be HOT. I have listed your must-have essentials below!
Honestly, don’t leave home without these! Your future self will thank you when you are cool as a cucumber while that Florida sun beats down on you.
One of the most crucial items on your list should be a personal fan! This is a game-changer, especially when you're at Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando during the summer. My family swears by these, and we use them all year round. The variety of fans available allows you to choose the one that suits the weather best. I've included my top picks below.

What I love about this particular neck fan:
The battery lasts a long time! I can almost always get a full park day out of it.
The fan has different power settings. The strongest one is STRONG, and I love it!
This fan is comfortable! You can bend the back of it to adjust to your neck/shoulders.
Pro Tip: Make sure you take this fan off when boarding Tron; otherwise, a super nice cast member will be forced to hold it for you while you ride the ride. :D
Another Neck Fan that I love!

What I love about this particular neck fan:
Let's be honest - the color! I originally purchased this fan because I loved the color of it.
This fan is very powerful, but I noticed that the battery did not last as long as the black one. Overall, if I had to purchase one again, I would purchase the black fan listed above. But, this one is very cute and still gets the job done!
Now, on to the next essential item for beating the summer heat! Cooling towels!
Click HERE to purchase these cooling towels.
What I love about these cooling towels:
These are the best! They are comfortable, offer UV protection, and cool you down instantly!
I love that they even come with traveling pouches, making packing them wet or dry a breeze!
Pro Tip: Disney and Universal both provide free ice water. I always soak my cooling towels in the ice water provided for a quick cool down.
Next up are disposable ponchos! This is another item that I think is a must for any trip to Orlando, but especially during the summer!
Click HERE to purchase these disposable ponchos.
What I love about these disposable ponchos:
Okay, first, I want to tell you why you need disposable ponchos. If there is rain in the forecast, I recommend bringing two ponchos per person. There is nothing worse than walking around in hot rain and having to put on a poncho that makes it that much hotter. If you are reusing your poncho, when you go to take it off, you have to carefully fold it just right so rain doesn't get on the inside, but if you have another one, then you can easily just throw it away! Plus, who wants to wear that nasty, most likely sweaty poncho again?!
What makes these ponchos great? Drawstring hoods and elastic cuffs. You'll thank me later.
Look how cute (and dry) Gus is in his poncho!
This next item is another one that I recommend year-round, but especially don't forget it during the summertime - sunscreen!
I normally purchase my sunscreen from other websites (I like the organic stuff!), but I love a couple that I've purchased on Amazon!
The first one that I want to talk about is this tinted sunscreen.
Click HERE to purchase this tinted sunscreen.
What I love about this sunscreen:
I love that it’s tinted! It’s so hard for me to keep makeup on my face in the summertime in Orlando - this sun screen fixes that problem!
I have never tried the other kinds of sunscreen in this brand, but I would purchase the kid's sunscreen for Gus.
Does anyone else get scalp burns?! This stuff was a game-changer for me! My hair is typically very oily so I was hesitant to try this out, but I am pleased to say that I love it!

A reusable water bottle is always a must! I like the insulated ones during the summertime.

If you’re traveling with a stroller, I highly recommend getting an insulated water bottle with a hook at the top! We would always get large D-rings and hook these water bottles to them. As I said earlier, you can always find ice-cold (free) water at the parks, so it’s great to have it!
I also loved that these came with three different types of lids. It weirds me out when I can’t cover my lid with a cap while at the parks.
There is one last item that I want to share with you.
Click HERE to purchase this personal fan.
What I love about this fan:
This fan is small and compact but packs a big punch! I bring this fan with me every time we visit the parks, and it’s good for so many other places, too!
It sits well on a desk, fits nicely in a purse, and can be used anywhere!
This fan also doubles as a flashlight and portable charger!
That’s it! These are my summer must-haves for navigating the parks in Orlando! I hope this list helps you stay cool this summer.
